Another first fish for Andy

The Helmsdale finally got off the mark last week and yes, it was that man again, Andy (Torrish) Sutherland who grassed the first fish off the river from Beat 4 Dalhallamy pool. The legendary Willie Gunn fly produced the goods and the fish was a classic 10 pounds of pure silver adeptly netted by his daughter Yvonne. 2 other springers were caught on the day by Stuart Foxall beat 6 and Jim Forsyth grassing the first off the Association water. Andy did it again on beat six Saturday with another 10lbs bar of silver from Big Rock pool.

Springers are being caught on most rivers now and another fine example was a cracking 25 pounder for from Roan pool on the Findhorn on our 1” Dee Monkey conehead. It’s time to get the rods out in earnest now and we have all the flies, lines and sinking tips you need for a successful day on the water.
